Montgomery Place responds to new City of Chicago quarantine policy during this time of COVID-19
Dear Friends and Family,
So where are you going on vacation? A very typical summer question that has taken on new planning connotations this year. Are you headed to Florida, Texas, Nevada? If so, are you ready to quarantine yourself upon your return?
The City of Chicago released Public Health Order 2020-10 last week, directing travelers to self-quarantine when they arrive in Chicago from “high burden” states. Guidelines specify a 14-day quarantine and applies to all City residents as well as visitors to the City. At Montgomery Place, we are applying these same guidelines to our staff and residents. The City will publish a weekly update listing of “high burden” states so the impact on your travel plans could change even while you are away. What may be a “safe” state when you depart may be identified as a “high burden” state upon your return.
Currently, three of our employees are quarantined to comply with this Public Health Order. They left for vacation prior to the issuance of the order but were subject to quarantine when they returned. This situation is frustrating and difficult for them and for Montgomery Place. Still all of us must adapt and be responsive to last minutes changes. Remember the purpose…to keep everyone safe from COVID-19!
Even if you are not traveling to “high burden” states, remember Montgomery Place’s policy is a 72-hour quarantine upon return from overnight stays at any location. We also administer a test for the virus and extend the time of a resident’s quarantine until we receive that test result. Upon receipt of negative results and being symptom-free for 72 hours, residents again may be involved in life around Montgomery Place.
Stay cool on these hot summer days!
