Montgomery Place rejoices with moms and women in its community during this time of COVID-19
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there…
Today I was selfish. I felt the need to connect a bit closer to the many residents who have been so faithful in honoring the Stay-at-Home order. So, I delivered flowers to all the mothers/women of Montgomery Place. Seeing their smiles and feeling their joy over a few carnations while we conversed for just a few minutes made my day! It was so wonderful to see and hear about the many, many Zoom calls and video chats these remarkable mothers enjoyed with their families.
We are embarking on another week that starts with no cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery Place. Nonetheless, we must remain strong and vigilant and not let down our guard.
Just as our Governor and Mayor are developing plans for the gradual reopening of the State and City, we, too, are beginning our plan. It also will be gradual. As we begin, we are considering opening a few things inside Montgomery Place—sorry, not the dining room! By starting slow, we hope to keep our risk low.
Residents will have a choice about participating in them. For example, by Wednesday, May 13, 2020, we will encourage residents to begin visiting the Café to pick-up their orders instead of having them delivered. Leaving their apartments with a specific purpose and destination gives residents a chance to get out a bit and to practice their mask wearing and social distancing skills. Still, no dining will be allowed in the Café. Clearly, none of us will ever master wearing a mask while eating!
Everyone can count on strict enforcement when it comes to wearing a mask. Noses must be covered. It will take some practice to get in the habit of wearing masks correctly. And staff will remind residents as well.
We’ll talk more about our re-entry program quite a bit during this coming week on Montgomery Place’s daily news updates at 12noon and at 5pm on Channel 4, our in-house TV channel. Remember, we are all in this together.
Please have a wonderful Sunday evening and again say “Thank you” to all our Moms in our lives.
