Montgomery Place responds to new mandate for testing during this time of COVID-19
Dear Friends and Family,
The big news today in Illinois is the mandate adopted by the Illinois Department of Public Health to require testing of all nursing home patients and healthcare workers. This announcement follows recommendations the CDC issued on May 18.
At Montgomery Place, we immediately began addressing quite a few questions about how this mandate affects our residents living in our licensed skilled nursing care wing on the second floor. This mandate for additional testing includes both residents and staff members who care for them.
Along with other senior living leaders, we are seeking clarification about how this new executive order will impact all other staff, who may not have direct connection with our skilled nursing care floor, as well as all residents in assisted and independent living apartments.
This mandate presents a new challenge for us. We appear to be caught at a crossroad filled with varying, even inconsistent, recommendations from federal, state and city regulators as well as a new executive order about implementation plans for skilled nursing care residents.
We will devise a path of action, navigating these fluctuating changes, to establish protocols that will include each of you. Tonight, I cannot answer the many questions I’m certain are on the minds of the residents of independent living and of our staff.
Recall my patience message yesterday? Here’s a new opportunity to apply that virtue as we spend the next few days asking many questions and developing the plan for our community. Of course, we will share all plans and be transparent about our decision-making process with you.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if I can answer any questions or be of further assistance. Call my mobile phone number, 773-617-1317, at any time.
Keeping everyone’s well-being as a top priority, guides our planning.
