Montgomery Place focuses on safety, daily life during this time of Covid-19
As we wrap up another day, we share with you updates on Montgomery Place’s efforts to care for your family members, patients and the staff who care for them in the face of COVID-19.
Currently, there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 here. While this new virus captures the majority of media attention, we must pay attention to other infectious viruses and bacteria, namely influenza and strep throat, also of concern.
Just like other communities across the country, the nationwide short supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) is beginning to affect Montgomery Place. We are quickly depleting our inventory, including most recent orders, of masks, gloves and other PPE items. Our nurses, who care for your loved ones, need to be protected. We ask all residents and families to please share their own supplies. Please donate to us what you do not absolutely need.
Please tune into Channel 4 at 9:00am, 12noon and 5:00pm every day for updates. Reruns are broadcast three to four times daily between our live programming. Printed copies of what’s shared are put in residents’ mailboxes. If residents do not wish to receive printed copies, please write your name on a copy in your mailbox and hand it to the receptionist who will remove your name from the distribution list. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to help us conserve our resources.
While we know the number of people reported as presumptive positive with the virus in the US is rapidly increasing now, we can hope the US experience will mirror that of countries where the virus may have peaked and the number of new incidents are decreasing. So, on that note, I want to end by sharing with you an email that I received from a trusted colleague. It brought me comfort and I hope it will do the same for you.
Good morning colleagues,
I normally don’t send out mass personal emails, but this is a special time in our nation. Here are some stats to help you and your family when feeling vulnerable. Please fact-check as needed (I did). Sending you all a virtual hug.
- China has closed down its last coronavirus hospital. Not enough new cases to support them.
- Apple reopens all 42 stores in China.
- Good news from South Korea, where the number of new cases is declining.
- A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in COVID-19 research.
- A San Diego biotech company is developing a COVID-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.
- Plasma from newly recovered patients who have had the COVID-19 virus can treat others infected by COVID-19.
Progress fuels hope. Let’s care for each other and stay focused on safety of those most vulnerable.
